Asphalt Repair Methods

• Asphalt Patching: This is a common repair for localized damage like cracks and potholes. It involves cleaning the damaged area, potentially cutting out the damaged asphalt, and then filling it with new asphalt material, which is then compacted for a smooth finish. Patching can be done with hot-mix asphalt or, for temporary fixes, with cold-mix asphalt.
• Asphalt Resurfacing: This process involves applying a new layer of asphalt over the existing surface, often called an overlay. Resurfacing is suitable when the existing asphalt has widespread damage but the underlying base is still in good condition. It's a more cost-effective option than complete pavement replacement when the foundation is still sound.
• Crack Sealing: This method focuses on sealing cracks in the asphalt to prevent water from seeping in and causing further damage. Crack sealing helps prevent potholes from forming and extends the life of the pavement.
•  Pothole Repair : Potholes are a common problem, especially in areas with freeze-thaw cycles. Repairing them involves cleaning out the pothole, filling it with asphalt, and compacting it to prevent further damage from water and traffic. 

Other Asphalt Repair Techniques

• Infrared Asphalt Repair: This method uses infrared heat to soften the existing asphalt, allowing for the addition of new asphalt and rejuvenation of the old material, resulting in a seamless repair. 
• Asphalt Milling: This involves removing the top layer of asphalt without disturbing the base, providing a clean surface for resurfacing or other repairs. 
• Remove and Replace: This involves cutting out the damaged area, repairing or replacing the base if needed, and then installing new asphalt.
